DigiH4A project : Drive adoption of digital health solutions
In response to rising healthcare costs and the growing needs of an aging European population, the European project DigiH4A (2024-2027) is committed to promoting the adoption of digital health solutions in the North Sea region. Its goal is to facilitate the integration of digital innovations into reimbursement systems to ensure their accessibility, effectiveness, and coverage. Biotech Santé Bretagne is joining forces with 10 European partners to tackle this challenge and help sustainably transform the healthcare sector.
Accelerating the Adoption of Digital Health Solutions in Europe: The Challenge of the DigiH4A Project!
When McKinsey estimates that digital health could achieve annual savings of €35 billion in the German healthcare system, the European DigiH4A project emerges as a key initiative to realize this potential. This transnational project aims to promote the widespread adoption of digital health solutions, adapting them to local care protocols and facilitating their integration into national healthcare systems. Furthermore, it addresses the crucial challenge of incorporating these innovations into various reimbursement and payment systems across the North Sea region. The DigiH4A project thus represents an essential collaborative effort to transform healthcare practices in Europe and maximize the benefits of digitalization for patients and caregivers.
How is the DigiH4A project consortium structured?
It is an Interreg North Sea project consisting of 10 partners from 7 countries – France, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, and Norway – and is coordinated by Innovation Skåne in Sweden.
The project duration is three years (2024-2027), with a total budget of €4,211,000 (60% funded by the European Union).
A project organized into three main working groups
The DigiH4A project is structured around three main working groups:
- Strategy development and knowledge hubs: This work module focuses on supporting SMEs in their journey toward transnational expansion and sustainability. It aims to create a tailored support framework and strategy, including recommendations for key stakeholders, and establish knowledge hubs to provide individual guidance to SMEs.
- Connecting healthcare providers and digital health solutions: This module aims to understand the real needs of healthcare providers regarding digital health and actively connects them with SMEs offering suitable solutions. The project facilitates matchmaking and organizes transnational events to bring together participants, including healthcare providers, solution providers, and payers.
- Evidence-based “Decision-making for innovation in digital health”: This module aims to enhance decision-making related to digital health by developing a “global benefit” method linked to digital health. The focus is on quantifying cost savings and quality of life improvements resulting from digital health solutions. The transnational collaboration between experts ensures the co-development of a comprehensive evaluation method.
The DigiH4A project seeks to go beyond one-off pilots by enabling SMEs to scale up at the European level and expand to multiple North Sea countries, thus accelerating the digital transition in healthcare systems and ensuring that citizens fully benefit from digital health innovations in the near future.
What is Biotech Santé Bretagne’s role in this European project?
As a consortium partner, Biotech Santé Bretagne will specifically contribute to producing a report on digital health reimbursement pathways, participate in evaluating the cost-benefit analysis of digital health, and coordinate the assessment of digital health market access.
